Carbon reduction in the aluminium sector:
The apt Group
A roadmap for decarbonisation
From façade construction to technical equipment and packaging: aluminium is a component of many products – with increasing demand. However, the production of aluminium is very energy intensive and contributes significantly to climate change, accounting for around three percent of global direct carbon emissions.
Despite this, aluminium can play a central role in sustainable business practices – provided it is produced and processed responsibly throughout the entire value chain.
The apt Group is consistently advancing its commitment to sustainable action. Following the successful ASI certification of its sites in Monheim and Roermond in 2023, Net-Zero roadmaps were developed, and decarbonization measures were refined. Latest milestone:
- Review and targeted development of the existing roadmaps for the sites in Monheim (DE) and Roermond (NL)
- Analysis of additional sites in Eckental (DE) and Cheb (CZ) as the foundation for the next stage of our climate strategy
These roadmaps serve as strategic guides to purposefully drive the decarbonisation of the company’s entire value chain. Learn how it all began:
“Sustainability at apt means continuously taking responsibility for our sites, processes, and entire value chain. With the support of ClimatePartner, we are consistently advancing our CO₂ reduction roadmaps with concrete steps toward a climate-neutral future.”
